Come join us as we knit Flax by Tin Can Knits. This sweater is a great first garment for those still early in their knitting journey. Flax is a versatile pattern, with sizing from infant to 6XL, making it an option for just about any loved one in your life. As it is a top down construction, it is seam free, another added bonus for a first garment. There are options for short rows to shape neck a little higher in the back for those students who are adventurous!
The pattern calls for Aran or Worsted weight yarn, with a target gauge of 18 sts by 22 rows to obtain a 4 inch square with your larger needles.
This class is for students who already have a solid grasp on basic knitting – casting on, knit stitch, purl stitch, bind off. This is not a class for those who have never knit before.
Homework- in advance of class you are expected to prepared and block your gauge swatch so we are ready to start the sweater in class. You may have to do more than one swatch to ensure you have the right needle size for your knitting style.
Over the course of three classes we will work through the major mile stones-
Class one: Discussion about gauge, sizing and casting on the sweater
Class two: placing arms on scrap yarn and starting the body
Class three: starting the sleeves
Look forward to having you join the fun!
